The Callaway Big Bertha Blue is a distance ball suited for mid and high handicap golfers who want to optimize their distance game while using a ball with a low compression and soft feel on the greens. The Big Bertha Blue is a softer model with more short game spin than the Big Bertha Red, and it is best for players who prefer a softer ball with more spin on the green. Balls with a low compression rating are also best for those who have slower than average swings.
The construction form of the Callaway Big Bertha Blue is suited to its function. A two piece design uses a large rubber core with a low compression rating. Both the compression and the size of the core give these balls a very responsive, high energy feel off of driver shots. By being able to transfer the energy from the club into kinetic energy more efficiently, the Callaway Big Bertha Blue is able to rocket off the tee. Surrounding the core is an ionomer cover coated in Callaway's proprietary dimple pattern which uses HEX Aerodynamics to achieve greater lift and reduce drag. The exterior has a softer feel around the green, and more spin and control is seen in short game shots.
Some distance balls require that the player sacrifice his short game, but the Callaway Big Bertha Blue is a compromise. It will give a mid to high handicap golfer the advantage of bettering his distance game while still providing the spin, control, and softness for an optimal short game.
